What is Sterling Silver (925) ?

Silver (Ag) is considered a precious metal. Like pure gold, pure silver is too soft to be worn every day, so it’s usually alloyed with another metal to make it stronger.

Sterling silver (silver 925) is the purest form of alloyed silver to be worn as jewelry, containing 92.5% of silver and 7.5% of other metals.

What is gold plated sterling silver ?

Gold plated sterling silver is sterling silver with a very thin layer of gold applied with electroplating technique the certain thickness (we use 2-3 microns thickness).

This layer is applied to enhance the prestige of the silver and to prevent the silver from tarnishing.

Will the gold tear off?

The gold layer will wear off after certain usage and will show the solid silver underneath. But don’t worry, Titian puts another thin invisible layer to protect the gold layer.

Does it safe for people with sensitive skin ?

Most of people are allergic to brass which is a mix of copper and zinc. If you use a plated brass, after the fold wears off, the brass will react to your skin.

If your skin is sensitive, try to stick with S925 (sterling silver) or 14k and higher solid gold.

All of Titian’s products are made of sterling silver, so they are safe for you.

Why jewelry could turn green or black ?

The salt water or in our sweat will oxidize silver based jewelries and give them black stains, sometimes green.  This goes the same way with rose-gold plated silver that contains small amount of copper.

But don’t worry, they are easy to get rid of. Gently swipe your silver based jewelry with silver cloth and your jewelry will shine like it’s new!

How to clean and organize jewelry ?

To clean your jewelry, you can use commercial jewelry cleaners, but make sure they’re suitable for the specific material. For a safe cleaning method for almost all types of jewelry, use a combination of lukewarm water and a soft brush. After cleaning, use a hairdryer to ensure the jewelry is completely dry before storing.

To organize and store your jewelry, use airtight bags with silica gel to keep them dry and long-lasting.
