A diamond is the hardest natural material there is — but the gold around it, and the film of everyday life on top of it, need a little care. Here's the simple routine we recommend.
The whole routine, in four steps
Why diamonds dull
It's almost never the diamond — it's a thin film of hand cream, sunscreen and oil collecting behind the stone, where light enters. Clean the back and the sparkle comes straight back. A quick soak every couple of weeks is all most rings need.
What to avoid
Take rings off for the gym, gardening and washing up — knocks can chip a girdle and chlorine can weaken gold over time. Keep perfume, hairspray and cream on before the jewellery goes on. Store each piece separately so a diamond doesn't scratch a softer stone next to it.
Bring it to us
Once or twice a year, let us check the setting and give it a professional clean — complimentary, for life. We'll make sure every claw is tight long before a stone could ever move, and return it looking like the day you got it.
