Lab-grown or natural?

The honest trade-offs

They look identical in the setting. The difference is where they came from, what they cost, and how they hold value. We work with both — here's how to choose.

They're the same material

A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond — the same carbon structure, the same hardness, the same sparkle. The only difference is that one formed in the earth over billions of years, and the other in a lab over weeks. Even a jeweller can't tell them apart by eye.

Natural

  • Rarity & a billion-year story
  • Holds resale value better
  • The traditional heirloom choice
  • Higher price for the same look

Lab-grown

  • Identical optics & durability
  • Often 30–60% less for the same size
  • Traceable, conflict-free origin
  • Lower resale value over time
If you want the most stone for your budget, go lab-grown. If you want rarity and lasting value, go natural.

What about ethics?

Lab-grown diamonds are fully traceable and conflict-free. Natural diamonds can be too — we only source stones with clear provenance. Either way, you can wear it knowing where it came from.

Our take

There's no wrong answer — it depends on what the ring means to you. Book a consultation and we'll put a natural and a lab-grown stone side by side so you can decide with both in front of you.
